SRI MUTHUKUMARAN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
 
The SMCE campus is spread on a serene sylvan setting on the eastern side of the famous Mangadu
Kamakshi Amman Temple. The atmosphere is conducive to academic and research pursuit in an area of
43.6 acres at east of Chikkarayapuram, Kundrathur Road, Mangadu, Chennai 600 069, and on the
outskirts west of Chennai city, on the Kumananchavadi-Kundrathur Tambaram road.
 
It is about 15Kilometers from Tambaram Railway station and about 23 Kilometers from Parrys corner. It is easily accessible by frequent city buses and also by a large fleet of our college buses.
 
Ample open spaces with shady trees add to the aesthetic beauty of the campus and entice the students to learn. The vast college campus has a well- planned network of blocks of various facilities, a full fledged library and reading halls, classrooms, well-equipped laboratories and playgrounds.

SMCE offers B.Ed., Degree Program designed to produce prepared, reflective educators committed to
excellence in the profession and the learning of all teacher trainees.
 
The B.Ed., degree program is guided by the following specific objectives
 
Provide prospective teachers to teach in culturally diverse setting
Encourage the concept of self-learning
Mandatory for all teacher trainees to undergo computer training
Proficiency in the content of their chosen fields
Impart qualitative Education
Develop scientific Attitude, Knowledge, Understanding, Application and Skill
Develop Positive & Sympathetic attitude towards Community development
Impart value based education

Attendance
 
Ideally every student is expected to attend all classes and secure 100% attendance. However in order to allow for certain unavoidable reasons such as Medical/Participation in sports/Personal, the student is expected to attend at least 85% of the classes.
